Delivery

We dispatch products Monday to Friday (from Auckland). Orders completed before 12 noon are dispatched the same day, or else the following day. If you've not received your order within four days of receiving your delivery email please let us know. 

Deliveries to the North Island are sent overnight via NZ Post. South Island deliveries are sent on a 2-3 day courier.

Orders are tracked, and you are sent the tracking number on dispatch so you can follow the journey of your package.

We do not deliver internationally.

Delivery costs

The cost to deliver your order will be calculated at checkout. The cost is calculated by weight and are in line with the NZ Post courier costs.

Payment

We accept payment by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and PayPal via the secure PayPal gateway. PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information using SSL protocol. The information requested at payment is needed for an order to be processed successfully. We do not see your card details, all this is managed by the payment gateway.

Gift delivery

Kohab products make great gifts. Ordering a gift is very easy. At check out you will be asked for two addresses:

  • The delivery address is where we will dispatch the order to, ie where you want your gift to be sent

  • The payment address is used for credit card processing

If you’d like a gift note put in with the package, please get in touch at info@kohab.nz as soon as you’ve made the order, and include the order number in your email.

If you’d like the gift to be delivered on a special day, we can aim to accommodate this. Simply get in touch at info@kohab.nz as soon as you’ve made your order (so that we don’t dispatch your package too early). Please make your order at least five days before to allow for this.

Special order requests

If you have a bit of a strange request about how or when your order needs to be delivered, this is fine. We can accommodate most things. Simply get in touch at info@kohab.nz before you make your order, and then we’ll watch out for your confirmation.

Packaging

It is important to us that we protect the environment of the creatures you wish to kohabitate with. Therefore all our packaging is sustainable and recyclable.

We sometimes use upcycled packaging, we know this can look a bit shoddy but we don’t think you’ll mind. We encourage you to reuse any of our packaging to help maximise its useful life and reduce landfill.

Country of origin

You can feel good about shopping with Kohab because our birdhouses and bird feeders are designed and made in New Zealand. Kohab foods are sourced from New Zealand farms and manufactuers and made here, too.

Ordering from Kohab

To make a purchase simply choose the Kohab products you'd like and add them to your cart. Once your order is complete, we'll send a confirmation email and update you again when your order is on its way.

All sales are made under full compliance with the laws of New Zealand including Fair Trading Act; Commerce Act; Sale of Goods Act; Consumer Guarantees Act.

Out of Stocks

If a product is out-of-stock, it won’t be available for purchase. If in the rare case the out-of-stock item is discovered after your order is placed we will refund the value of the out-of-stock item.

Returns and refunds

If you are not satisfied with your purchase please contact us at info@kohab.nz within 7 days from the date of purchase to arrange a refund or exchange. The item must then be sent back to us within 14 days from the date of purchase*. Return shipping for a refund or exchange is the responsibility of the customer but we will happily cover the cost of returning the exchanged item.

Items must be unused and be in its original packaging. If these conditions are not met the refund or exchange will not be processed. Refunds and exchanges will be processed within 7 days of receiving the returned item.

Once you have shipped your product back to us, please notify us by sending us an email on info@kohab.nz  with your tracking number so that we can closely monitor it. We will be in contact once we have received your return.

Terms of Service

This website is operated by Kohab Limited. We'll refer to ourselves as 'we', 'us', 'our' or 'Kohab'. By viewing, using or purchasing from this website, you accept our terms, conditions and policies. Our store is hosted on Squarespace - they provide us with an online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you. Therefore, we must, and you must, also accept their standard terms and conditions when using our site.

While we do our best to ensure this site is secure, we provide no warranty or guarantee that the site is free of viruses, malicious computer code or other forms of interference that may damage your computer or any other device.

We reserve the right to:

  • refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time

  • refuse to complete an order if we decide

  • change prices or product descriptions without notice

  • make the final decision on refunds

  • refund orders if prices are incorrect by mistake

  • refund your purchase without reason

  • discontinue products at our discretion

  • change our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy at any time

  • halt trading for set periods.

In no case shall Kohab Limited directors, employees or any affiliates be liable for any injury, loss, claim, or any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, special, or consequential damages of any kind, arising from the use and assembly of our products.

Intended use

Our products are designed for use in New Zealand gardens with wild birds found in New Zealand. Any Kohab foods are not intended to be consumed by humans or any other animal. Our birdhouses and bird feeders are designed to be used with our products. We cannot be held responsible for any degradation of our products if used with competitors’ foods.

Prices

All prices and delivery costs are in New Zealand Dollars ($NZ) and include GST. Prices may change from time to time but will be accurate when you make an order.

Products on sale

From time to time we may offer our products at discounted prices. Sale products may have limited stock and once sold out, the product cannot be purchased for this sale price. There are no rain checks. Sale products will have a clear end date for when the discount will no longer apply.

Assembling our birdhouses and bird feeders

Kohab products have been designed to be simple to assemble. You will need to supply your own hammer. All assembly instructions can be found here. Nail holes are pre-drilled for ease and accuracy, and nails and mounting screws supplied. Please use these nails as they are will not rust. Children under 14 need adult supervision when assembling our products due to sharp edges and the risks associated with using nails and a hammer. Please make sure that you use all of the nails so that your birdhouse or feeder is supported at all key points.

The lifetime of our birdhouses and birdfeeders 

We use high-quality marine plywood rather than tantalised wood, which contains toxins that can be harmful to birdlife. Marine plywood can last outside up to 10 years. However, as with all outside wood products, you can extend the lifespan of your birdhouses with a little bit of love. We recommend sealing it with a wood sealer. This is safe for wildlife and easily found in large DIY stores.

Personal information and privacy

Your personal information is safe with us! We only collect information that we need to deliver your order. This information is retained for any future orders, however, you can request that we delete this information at any time. To do this, simply let us know by email. We obviously don't share your personal info with anyone or any other business. During your first order, we'll ask whether it's ok to email you from time to time with Kohab news. If you'd rather we stop sending you emails in the future, simply unsubscribe using the link on the base of the emails. We adhere to the requirements of the Privacy Act 1993 and the Unsolicited Electronic Mail Act 1997.

Kohab Life newsletter subscription

You can subscribe to our regular newsletter on our website or when you make an order. We’d love it if you do. If at any time you change your mind about receiving these marketing emails, simply unsubscribe using the link on the base of any email we send. Your subscription status will be instantly updated at this point. Our emails are sent by Squarespace which has a number of additional checks to ensure that all Electronic Mail requirements are met. When you subscribe your email is only used for this email newsletter, we won’t contact you about anything else or share your details with any other business.

Transactional emails

As part of our service, we will send you emails about your order or your payment. These informational emails are classed as transactional emails and you cannot unsubscribe from these. This is why these emails do not have an unsubscribe link on the base of the emails (as is standard with any marketing emails). 

Damages during delivery

We hope this does not happen, but in the event of damages while your package is in transit, please get in touch. We will ask you to return the damaged goods and we’ll replace any damaged items.
