The large bill of the Goldfinch sets off its bright red head, and its yellow wing stripes make it look truly exotic.
The Goldfinch becomes territorial during breeding seasons but during other times will flock in large groups. They build a small nest that is comfortably lined with wool, thistledown or hair where the female will sit incubating the chicks and looking after the new brood with her husband looking after her by bringing her dinner.
What do Goldfinch eat?
Goldfinch love seed which they can easily break open with their strong beak. They tend to forage on the ground but are agile creatures and happy to hang upside down to get to their favourite seed direct from a plant.
To encourage them to your garden and support their well-being feed them from a feeder with Kohab Wild Bird Seed, it helps supplement their diet and help them thrive.
